Sue Knox Weakley earned her undergraduate degree in journalism from Ole Miss and her master’s degree in journalism with an emphasis on print from the University of Memphis. She worked as a columnist for the Memphis Commercial Appeal, an editor for Horse & Rider magazine, a copywriter for a Memphis advertising agency, a freelance writer and in public relations in the high-tech and health-care industries. She has taught journalism classes at the University of Mississippi, the University of Memphis and Northwest Community College in Senatobia, Miss.

Weakley’s passion for travel took her and six journalism students to Buenos Aires, Argentina, in June 2010 to learn about multimedia reporting in a diverse culture. She hopes to take more trips with students to South America and other foreign countries. Read the blog from their trip.

Weakley volunteers for an international horse association where she serves as a director on the board and as editor for the association’s magazine. She combines her love of travel and horses with frequent trips to Portugal to take riding lessons in upper-level dressage.
