Six Meek School students checked out gear and headed out to cover stories assigned by WTVA in Tupelo on April 28. Their goal was to produce work good enough to air on the newscasts that night.
At the end of the day, every story produced was aired and the Web versions published on wtva.com.
Faculty members Dr. Nancy Dupont and Deb Wenger accompanied the students and helped guide the storytelling, along with WTVA news director Jeff Houston and WTVA producer/anchor C.J. LeMaster.
At 6 p.m., students Aubry Killion and Norman Seawright covered Tupelo vendors exhibiting at the Double Decker Festival in Oxford.

At 10 p.m., the students practically took over the newscast with 4 stories airing in the show.
First up was Stephen Quinn and Kaitlin Howell.
Brit Stack and Matthew Milner produced this piece.
And Norman Seawright and Aubry Killion were back at 10 p.m. with another angle on the Double Decker Festival.
In addition to the current student stories, Meek School graduate Allie Ware was also reporting that day. Ware interned at WTVA while still in school.
