The Hechinger Report, a non-profit education news site that partners with national media outlets (Time, NPR and NBC News) and local media outlets (Biloxi Sun-Herald, the Clarion-Ledger, the Memphis Commercial Appeal, the Northeast Daily Journal, and Mississippi Public Broadcasting) to produce high-quality education coverage, is looking for enthusiastic journalism students who are interested in interning with us this school year. Students would contribute to stories about education in Mississippi, as well as topics that intersect with education, such as race, poverty, and segregation. As an intern, you will receive bylines, opportunities to pitch and report your own education-related stories, assistance in publishing your stories with one of our collaborators, and editing by our team of experienced staff writers and editors. We will also reimburse for travel/mileage related to reporting stories. If interested, please contact Jackie Mader at firstname.lastname@example.org with a resume and two or three clips.
