The Daily Mississippian won three advertising awards for creative work in the annual Better Newspaper Contest/Advertising Division, sponsored by the Mississippi Press Association.
Robbie Carlisle won two awards: third place for best service ad-color in an ad designed for University Trails and third place for best grocery or restaurant advertisement-black and white in an ad for Rooster’s Blues House.
Creative and Technical Supervisor Dylan Parker won third place for best retail advertisement-black and white featured in an ad for Holli’s Sweet Tooth.
In this contest, The Daily Mississippian competes against professional newspapers in the state with a circulation of 9,000-15,000, not against other student-run newspapers.
The awards were announced Jan. 22 at the MPA Mid-Winter Conference in Jackson. Student Media Center Advertising Manager Melanie Wadkins attended the conference.
